What's my name?

One thing about people, they will call me anything but my name - cat, choochie, cookie, igqe - you name it. I have heard them all and I often wonder why is that. Why is that I cannot be addressed like any other part of the body? A leg is never named anything but a leg, why can't the same courtesy be extended to me?

People often treat us as these unknown, inappropriate body bits as apposed to what we actually are, natural and wonderful. Because I am categorized 'private' by society, I am supposed to be regarded with respect and sacredness just like how one would regard a person or things of importance. That seems like a great sentiment but what is interesting is that the words I am given do not scream respect or sacredness. Also, how I am private to my host when I am always with them with no chance of privacy.

I don't think think my issue with these names I'm given lies with the names themselves. My issue lies with reasons behind these names as well as the implications they bring my way. Furthermore, you might find out that not even the hosts came up with these names. Take the names 'cookie' and 'cat' for examples. A cookie is something edible, meant to be eaten and a cat is usually a pet which belongs to someone else. Not only do these words have negative connotations when looked closely, they pose a potential danger to the host as well as me.

People with vaginas can name their vaginas however they want. I think it would be nice to be called by 'real names' but if they want give us nicknames - great but it should be solely because they want to, not because the society deems it appropriate.
